WildRename is a highly comprehensive and flexible utility that helps you change the names and extensions of large numbers of files in an easy and accurate manner. WildRename offers you various tools to perform massive filename changes securely and accurately. Case normalization will let you change the case of selected filenames in a very flexible way - you can choose to apply the changes to both the name and the extension, to either of them, or to a section of the name (i.e. from character number X to character number Z). You may also want to add a counter to your filenames - here you can choose the length of the counter and its exact position within the name, using a specific string or character position as a reference. The string replacement utility is more straightforward, but equally useful - you can replace any given string with a new one using regular expressions and performing accurate case-sensitive searches.
You can easily combine these tools with various options, namely the possibility of making the changes recurse into subdirectories, of renaming also the directories selected during the search, of resetting the counters at every new subdirectory, and of performing various sorting tasks before applying any changes. more
